The following page is an assortment of links that I like to check out on a regular basis. Some are things I really like to do for fun, others are where I can get my geek fix. I'll add more if I feel more is needed on these pages.

Star Trek Vancouver Meet-up Group

Star Trek Vancouver Meet-up Group

This is a fun, fan group that I discovered shortly after I separated from my ex-husband. I really needed to find a group that I fit in, as one major problem I had in my life was I didn't know how to find and meet new friends. After my separation, I was really alone out here in BC, and really felt the need to meet new people. This group caught my eye.

After a couple of years of being involved in this group (I think I've only actually missed three or four meet-ups), I am now an organizer, or Captain, of the group.

I have really met some great people that I consider to be good friends with. I encourage everyone who is a Star Trek fan in the Greater Vancouver region, regardless of which series is your favourite, to join the group. You will be glad you did. I know because I am.

Interesting things have happened to me since I joined meetup.com. I even managed to land a job from the Graphic Design group I am also a member of.

Facebook

It can be truly said that I discovered Facebook before Facebook was cool. I have been on Facebook for a number of years now and find myself constantly checking this page, even though I have significantly cut down my time on Facebook this year.

Through Facebook, I have actually discovered I've made some connections with former co-workers who I now consider to be friends. I've also discovered that it's most valuable point is I can reconnect with people who are friends or relatives that I don't get to see often, as they live on opposite sides of the country. I also play some games on occasion. My facebook profile is on my Mell's Bell page.

Twitter

Twitter

I have a guilty confession to make. I am so hooked on reading twitter tweets from celebrities. In particular, I follow quite a lot of Star Trek actors and find their insights to be either entertaining, or very imformative, or even just to see what they are like in real life. I follow a few celebrities that I find interesting. As with the above link, my handle is on my Mell's Bell page.

Green Party of Canada

I have gotten really heavily into politics since 2004, when I first discovered The Green Party of Canada. Prior to that, I hated politics, politicians and the like. I always felt they were there for themselves, not the people. That is, until I discovered the Green Party and what they actually stood for, which is everything I stand for.

I have to admit, Elizabeth May is my favourite politician. She's the leader of the Green Party and now the first elected Green MP, and is making quite the name for herself in Parliament. I love how open she is, even going to the point of blogging about daily events and issues in politics, which I think keeps the people more informed about what's going on in government.

It's a shame that the mainstream media continues to blockade any and all news about the Green Party, even to the point of voter sabbotage in the last election. As a result, I refuse to watch the news in Canada until they become what they are supposed to be, unbiased in their approach to journalism. The bottom-line is, if more people heard about what the Greens stand for, they'd win hands-down.

I have also taken it upon myself to pass around any news I hear of the Greens on Facebook and Twitter, as my way of getting the news out there. Vote Green! You'll have a clear conscience, and vote for the only party thinking about the future generations of this world.
